Using labels

Labels are very powerful for relating multiple OGSMs to each other. For example, you can use a label to indicate which parent strategy your plan contributes to. Or you can indicate which departments are involved in a strategy. On the dashboards and in external BI software you can create cross-sections based on the labels.

There are two types of labels:

  1. Central labels: these are managed centrally and can be used in all OGSMs and brainstorms.
  2. Specific labels: these are specific to an OGSM and can be added by users.

Manage central labels

Required permissions: Administrator of the platform

  • In the menu on the left, click ‘Admin’ and choose ‘Labels’.
  • Click the ‘Add’ button to add a new label.
  • Type the text of the label.
  • Select a colour or type the HEX code of the colour you want. The label is shown in the OGSMs and brainstorms with the chosen colour.
  • Click ‘Save’.

  • In the overview of labels, click the title of a label to edit or delete it. Changes are applied everywhere the label is used.

As administrator you can decide whether users can create their own labels. You do this with this checkbox:

Add labels to an item

Administrators and Participants in a team can add labels to items.

  • Edit the item you want to add labels to.
  • Click the ‘Labels’ field.
  • Select the label you want. You can also select multiple labels.

Depending on the settings configured by the administrator, you may also be able to add specific labels. These labels are all available within the current OGSM.

  • Type the specific label in the ‘Label’ field.
  • Click the plus icon to the right of the field to confirm the label.

The labels you set are now visible in the OGSM and available to filter on in the dashboards.

Labels on actions

You can also add labels to actions. There is no need to give actions the same label as the strategy they belong to. Actions are automatically linked to the label of the strategy.

In the example above, the actions can therefore also be filtered in the dashboards on the label ‘Account management’.
